- Enable USB Debugging in your Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The option of USB Debugging should be ticked.
Procedure to install Liquid Smooth ROM based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on Verizon Galaxy S3
Backing up IMEI/EFS data:
On ROM while installing needs K-exec recovery, which sometimes erases the IMEI number/EFS data from the phone, which results in the inability to make calls or use any network function like 3G/4G data. Therefore, one should backup the IMEI, so that we can restore it later. But, before following the steps mentioned below you should have rooted your phone.
Step1: Firstly, install Android Terminal Emulator from here on your phone.
Step2: Now, run Terminal Emulator on the phone by clicking on the Downloaded file in the apps menu.
Step3: Next, type the command written below in the Terminal Emulator and then press enter:
After typing “su”, press the Allow/Grant button when prompted to grant Terminal Emulator root access.
Step4: Now, in Terminal Emulator, type in the command written below to backup your IMEI/EFS to the SD of your phone:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p11 of=/sdcard/efs.sbn
Step5: A backup of your IMEI/EFS will be made in the SD card named “efs.sbn”. You can transfer the same on your computer to keep it safe for further use.
Flashing K-Exec Recovery:
Now flash K-exec recovery, which will help in flashing of the ROM.
Step1: First of all download K-exec recovery image from here to your computer.
Step2: Now, copy the downloaded file to the root directory of your phone’s SD card.
Step3: Now, open Terminal Emulator, type “su” once again to grant root access.
Step4: Next, type in the commands written below, pressing enter after each command to flash K-exec recovery:
dd if=/sdcard/d2vzw_recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18 bs=256k
Step5: After a few seconds the phone will reboot into ClockworkMod recovery.
Installing the ROM:
Step1: Your phone should be in ClockworkMod Recovery.
Step2: You can perform a Nandroid backup of your existing ROM, so that you can revert the same whenever you want.
Step3: Now, select “wipe data/factory reset” then select “Yes” on the next screen that follows to confirm your action.
Step4: Next, select “install zip from sdcard” then select “choose zip from sdcard” and then choose the ROM file you’ve placed on the SD card.
Step5: After the installation of the ROM file has completed, flash the Google Apps Package in the same manner as you have flashed the ROM file in the previous step.
Step6: After the installation procedure has completed, select “++++Go Back++++” then select “reboot system now” to reboot your phone and land into Liquid Smooth ROM.
How to Restore IMEI/EFS Backup:
After the installation of Liquid Smooth ROM has completed, check the IMEI number on the phone in Settings -> About phone -> Status. If it is zero, then follow the steps written below to restore your EFS data.
Step1: Open Terminal Emulator.
Step2: Type in “su” then grant it root access.
Step3: Now, type in the commands pressing Enter key after each command written below to restore the IMEI.
dd if=/sdcard/efs.sbn of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p11
Step4: When the phone reboots, your IMEI will be restored.
