Samsung Galaxy Ace handset users must be searching for Jelly Bean firmware. We have already given you hints about the Jelly Bean CyanogenMod 10 custom ROM on our previous post. Now, Maclaw a recognized xda developer forum member has made CM10 Jelly Bean firmware available for Galaxy Ace S5830 and Galaxy Gio. I think that developers are also trying to port Jelly bean to Galaxy Ace Advance S7500 but still the ROM is not fully working yet.
CM10 for Galaxy Ace also has many bugs like microphone, headphone, camera, small speaker, FM radio not working for now. Maclaw is the same developer who created CM9 fully working ICS ROM for Galaxy Ace and he will be doing the same with CM10 but as for now no Qualcomm hardware based device has a fully working Jelly Bean firmware. It will take some time and this CM10 Jelly Bean ROM is still in alpha stage.
Features of CM10 Jelly Bean for Samsung Galaxy Ace:
With C10 Jelly Bean on Galaxy Ace you will be getting AOKP based ROM that is more preferred over AOSP due to its tweaks and performance capabilities. Connectivity like GSM, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth are fully working. 2D/3D accereleration is supported and Jelly Bean butter UI and Live wall papers are fully working. SD card, sensors, GPS etc are working but there are few minor issues.
Warning/Alert: Install Custom requires you to root your Samsung Galaxy Ace or Galaxy Gio. This voids warranty. We or the developers would not be responsible for any issues caused by following this procedure or using the custom ROM.
1. Samsung Galaxy Ace or Galaxy Gio must be rooted and CWM recovery should be installed.
2. Create backup of your firmware using CWM recovery and backup all essential data like contacts, files, settings.
3. Enable USB debugging on the device. Go to settings>>Developer options and enable USB debugging.
How to Install Android 4.1 Jelly Bean CM10 on Samsung Galaxy Ace and Galaxy Gio:
Step 1: Download the zip file from the link provided above. The file name will be cm10_ace-ota-eng.maclaw.zip, Transfer this file to root of the phone’s SD card.
Step 2: Now, shut down the phone and restart in CMW recovery. To boot into CWM recovery press the Volume up+ Home button + power button together for few seconds.
Step 3: In recovery mode select “Wipe cache/factory reset” to reset the phone to factory settings. If you are already using the CM9 ICS ROM from Maclaw on your phone then you can avoid this step.
Step 4: Now, select “Install zip from SD card” >> “Choose zip from SD card”. Select the file named cm10_ace-ota-eng.maclaw.zip and confirm to install the ROM. It will take few minutes for the ROM to install.
Step 5: Once installed, select “Go Back” and then “reboot the system”. This will restart the system in normal bootloader mode and you will be able to see the new bootscreen and Jelly Bean welcome screen.
On the first boot it takes few minutes to setup everything. If you get stuck on boot screen for more than 5 minutes then take out the battery. Now, restart into CWM recovery and factory reset the device. This will solve the issue.
