There was some bugs with initial firmware and thus Google has released Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean firmware update for Nexus 7 Tablet OTA. If you have missed the OTA then you can manually install the new firmware using below detailed process.
This process needs a rooted device, which can be checked by downloading ‘Root Checker’ app from Google PLAY Store.

- Before starting the process you need to backup of some important data and files, which is really important. You must take the backup of Contacts, Call Logs, Bookmarks, APN (Access Point Names) settings, MMS settings, SMS, Videos, Images and Music files. - Charge your device battery to 60% because it may turn off before completing the process.
- The anti-virus or firewall must be disable from your device as well as from your Computer because they causing interruption during the process.
- USB Debugging option on your Asus Nexus 7 Tablet must be enable.
Procedure to Update Asus Nexus 7 Tablet with Official Jelly Bean 4.1.1 Firmware:
Step 1. Let’s start the updating process but first you need to root your ASUS Nexus 7 Tablet. After that you need to download Nexus 7 Jelly Bean 4.1.1 Firmware Package to your Computer.
Step 2. Then, you need to place the downloaded signed-nakasi-JRO03C-from-JRN84D.zip | Size: 12.57 MB to the root of the SD card by connecting your device to the Computer via USB data cable.
Step 3. Once the file has been transfer, you need to disconnect your device and switch it off so that you can enter into the ClockworkMod recovery mode. You can do this by pressing and holding Volume Up + Volume Down buttons and then press Power button to finally enter into the recovery mode.
Step 4. When you are in recovery mode, you need to navigate to the ‘install zip from sd card > choose zip from sd card’ to select the signed-nakasi-JRO03C-from-JRN84D.zip fileby browsing into SD card. Confirm installation by selecting ‘Yes’ on the next screen. Once the file starts installing it would take around 5-6 minutes to complete the update.
Step 5. After the completion of installation process, you need to select ‘+++Go Back+++’ option and then ‘reboot system now’ to restart your device in normal mode with Jelly Bean 4.1.1 ROM. To check whether the firmware has been installed successfully or not, you need to follow ‘Settings > About Tablet’.
