How to Root/Unrooting and Install xRecovery on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro

Sony Xperia X10 Mini Pro can was a budget priced QWERTY keypad equipped Android smartPhone. Although, its a Phone from 2010 but yet we have lots of readers requesting for a detailed Guide on rooting Sony Xperia X10 Mini Pro, we have also added a part to tell about the xRecovery custom recovery that can help you with flashing ROM. We will be soon reviewing some Android IceCream Sandwich and Jelly Bean ROM for X10 mini Pro.

What to do before installing ROM or Rooting your device?

Step 1: We always suggest a full backup of your Android device before you go for rooting or installing custom ROM. Backup all your SMS, Backup/Export Contacts, Backup APN settings. You can also follow our Tutorial on creating backup of Android device without root access.

Step 2: You should also Backup all apps, if you have not rooted your device yet then follow this procedure to backup apps. If you have a rooted device then use Titanium to Backup and restore apps and cache data.

Step 3: Enable USB debugging on your device, Go to settings>>Developer options and check the USB debug box. If you are not able to get it check our detailed guide on enabling USB debugging on Jelly Bean, IceCream Sandwich and Gingerbread.

Step 4: Always check your battery before performing rooting procedure or installing ROM.If you have low battery status then you may face interruption while the procedure and it may brick your device. Check our tutorial on how to get battery percentage on Status bar.

Step 5: If you are going to install Custom ROM then it’s better to create a full Nandroid Backup of your device. You can also use Custom recovery to create Nandroid backup.

Step 6: We would also suggest disabling security apps and programs like Antivirus and Firewall on your Android device as it may interrupt the procedure.

I am sure that if you take care of above mentioned steps carefully then there is lot less chance of issues. If you face any issues with ROM then you can revert back to previous Nandroid Backup. Also you have all SMS, settings and apps data with you that can be restored anytime.

Download SuperOneClick.rar file and file from here to your computer. Extract SuperOneClick.rar file to a folder onto your desktop. As well as install BusyBox on your device. You can do this by visiting the Google Play Store on your device or by visiting the web version here, you’ll have to log-in with your device-associated Google account and clicking on Install. Also, extract to folder onto your desktop, you well get a series of files like: busybox, chargemon, xrecovery.tar, readme.txt. Place the first three files onto the root directory of your device’s SD card.

How to Root/Unroot and Install xRecovery on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro:

Step 1: First of all, connect your phone to the PC via original USB cable or the cable that came with it.

Step 2: Now, from the folder you’ve extracted SuperOneClick.rar file double-click on “SuperOneClick.exe” to run it.

Step 3: Next, from the application you see, click on “Root”.

Step 4: Soon your device will be rooted.

Step 5: For Unrooting your device you’ll have to follow all the steps from 1 to 2, but in place of clicking on “Root” in step 3, click on “Unroot” for unrooting the same.

Step 6: For installing CWM recovery onto your device, Go to the Play Store again and install “Root Browser Lite”.

Step 7: Now, open Root Browser Lite on your device.

Step 8: Next, press and hold on the system folder to bring up options; then click on “Permissions”.

Step 9: Now, tick all the checkboxes under write and click OK.

Step 10: Next, copy the three files you have on your SD card to /system/bin folder.

Step 11: Now, hold and press on each file, click on “permissions” again and tick all boxes under read, write and execute columns.

Step 12: Next, go back to the system folder and change the permissions to as they were previously.

You’ve successfully installed xRecovery onto your device.

Step 13: For Accessing, reboot your device.

Step 14: Now, keep pressing the Back button as soon as you see the white SE logo. (Use Volume Up and Down to move around the menu, Home button to select and Back button to go back to previous menu.)
