How to Root Sprint HTC Evo 4G with RegawMOD Tool and Install TWRP recovery

HTC Evo 4G LTE is an Android Smartphone that features a 4.3 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display of 480 x 800 pixels. It is powered by 1 GHz Scorpion Qualcomm Snapdragon processor running on Android 2.1 Éclair.

In this post, we will guide you to the step by step process to root HTC Evo 4G LTE with RegawMOD One-Click method and install TWRP Recovery.

Steps to root Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE using RegawMOD Rooter utility

Step 1. Extract the downloaded zip files to a folder in the desktop. Open the folder and you will find an .exe and a .dll file.

Step 2. Now launch the RegawMOD Rooter executable.

Step 3. Connect your handset to the PC through the USB cable.

Step 4. A new window will pop up, if everything is fine, simply click on ‘ROOT ME’ button and confirm by  selecting ‘YES’. This will initialize the process and will take a few moments to complete.

Step 5. When the process is successfully completed, the handset will restart automatically. Now tap on OK and this will begin the htc-dev process. When the process is completed, a new windows will pop up on the screen (this window appears only if you didn’t unlock the bootloader).

Step 6. Now press the Volume Up button to highlight YES and confirm the action by pressing Power key.

Step 7. Now, click the Continue button on your PC screen.

Step 8. After this the handset will restart and wait until the setup wizard appears. Instead you can skip this and enable the USB debugging mode once again.

Step 9. During the installation process of TWRP Recovery and rooting, the handset will reboot several times.

Step 10. After some reboots, the handset will reboot into its main Android screen which means that it has been successfully rooted.

To confirm whether the handset is rooted or not, check the app drawer and the SuperSU app is present.

METHOD 1: Android Application Installation.



Steps to install TWRP Recovery by Android Application Installation method

Step 1. Install the GooManager application on your handset and open it. After launching it, click on the menu and the tap on ‘install OpenRecoveryScript’.

Step 2.  Confirm by tapping on YES and check whether the filename shows the HTC EVO 4G LTE code name.

Step 3. Now select YES one more time. This will initialize the downloading of the software.

Step 4. After this the phone will restart automatically and install the TWRP Recovery tool.


METHOD 2: Fastboot.


Steps to install TWRP Recovery by Fastboot Method

Step 1. Copy the ‘openrecovery-twrp-2.1.7-jewel.img’ file into your ‘platform-tools.dir’.

Step 2. Now switch off your handset and press and hold the Power button and then press the Volume Down button till a menu is displayed.

Step 3. Choose ‘fastboot’ from the options listed.

Step 4. Now connect the handset to the PC via a USB cable. If the drivers are installed in your PC, a ‘fastboot usb’ notification is displayed on the screen.

Step 5. Open Command prompt and enter the following command line: fastboot flash recovery recoveryfilename.img.

Now the TWRP Recovery is successfully installed in your device.
