What to do before installing ROM or Rooting your device?

Step 2: You should also Backup all apps, if you have not rooted your device yet then follow this procedure to backup apps. If you have a rooted device then use Titanium to Backup and restore apps and cache data.
Step 3: Enable Mock Locations onto your Smartphone from the path Menu > Settings > Applications > Development > Allow Mock Locations.

Step 6: If you are going to install Custom ROM then it’s better to create a full Nandroid Backup of your device. You can also use Custom recovery to create Nandroid backup.
Step 7: We would also suggest disabling security apps and programs like Antivirus and Firewall on your Android device as it may interrupt the procedure.

Download Rooting Package and Original Kernel from here to your computer. Extract both the files into separate folders onto your desktop. You’ll find “Odin” in the folder where you’ve extracted Root Package, install it.
Procedure to Root Samsung Galaxy S Advance I9070:
Step 1: Open Odin and reboot your phone so as to enter it in Download Mode. To do so, press and hold the Volume Down + Home + Power buttons together until the screen turns ON.
Step 2: Now, connect your phone to the PC via original USB cable i.e. the cable that came with it.
Step 3: Next, from Odin click on “PIT” tab and choose the “GT-I9070_EUR_XX_8G_20111220_KL6.pit” for flashing it onto your device.
Step 4: Now, click on “PDA” tab and choose the “rootkernel.tar.md5” file.
Step 5: Also, check in Odin that the checkboxes beside “Auto Reboot” and “F.Reset Time” are only checked. Leaving these two options no other options should be enabled.
Step 6: Now, click on “Start” button to begin the rooting process.
Step 7: As soon as the Rooting of your device has completed, your device will automatically reboot.
Step 8: Once again open Odin and put your device into Download Mode.
Step 9: Again connected your phone to the PC, if you’ve disconnected after the rooting process.
Step 10: Now, from Odin, click on “PIT” tab and choose “GT-I9070_EUR_XX_8G_20111220_KL6.pit” for flashing it onto your device.
Step 11: Next, click on “PDA” tab and choose the Original Kernel file you’ve downloaded earlier.
Step 12: Check the checkboxes beside “Auto Reboot” and “F.Reset” in the Odin tool.
Step 13: Now, hit the “Start” button to begin the flashing process.
Step 14: As soon as the flashing process has completed, your phone will automatically reboot.
