We all know that Micromax is known for launching affordable devices, and when it comes to smartphone and that with Android, Micromax produces budget Android smartphones. You can even experience the latest version of Android on it and that too in a pocketable phone from Micromax.

One such device form Micromax is A50 Ninja. The Ninja A50 runs on a 650 MHz processor that offers seamless multitasking and enhanced performance. It operates on the Android v2.3 (Gingerbread) OS. The Android OS has an easy-to-use interface and offers intuitive text input. The 3.1-inch capacitive touchscreen allows you to drag and drop items with ease. What to do before installing ROM or Rooting your device?

Step 1: We always suggest a full backup of your Android device before you go for rooting or installing custom ROM. Backup all your SMS, Backup/Export Contacts, Backup APN settings. You can also follow our Tutorial on creating backup of Android device without root access.

Step 2: You should also Backup all apps, if you have not rooted your device yet then follow this procedure to backup apps. If you have a rooted device then use Titanium to Backup and restore apps and cache data.

Step 3: Enable USB debugging on your device, Go to settings>>Developer options and check the USB debug box. If you are not able to get it check our detailed guide on enabling USB debugging on Jelly Bean, Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread.

Step 4: Always check your battery before performing rooting procedure or installing ROM. If you have low battery status then you may face interruption while the procedure and it may brick your device. Check our tutorial on how to get battery percentage on Status bar.

Step 5: If you are going to install Custom ROM then it’s better to create a full Nandroid Backup of your device. You can also use Custom recovery to create Nandroid backup.

Step 6: We would also suggest disabling security apps and programs like Antivirus and Firewall on your Android device as it may interrupt the procedure.

I am sure that if you take care of above mentioned steps carefully then there is lot less chance of issues. If you face any issues with ROM then you can revert back to previous Nandroid Backup. Also you have all SMS, settings and apps data with you that can be restored anytime.

Download MT65x3 USB VCOM drivers, SP Flash Tool, Boot.img,  MT6573_Android_scatter, Unlock Root and USB Drivers from here to your computer. Extract the “MT65x3 USB VCOM drivers” and “SP Flash Tool” files into same folder onto your desktop.          

Procedure to Root Micromax A50 Ninja:

Step 1: From the folder where you’ve extracted “MT65x3 USB VCOM drivers” and “SP Flash Tool” files, right-click on “Flash_tool.exe” and then select “Run as Administrator”.

Step 2: Now, from the Flash tool window, click on File and Open Scatter-loading File on the pop-up window and select the file “MT6573_Android_scatter.txt” and click on Open. When you see a pop-up window, just click on “OK”.

Step 3: In the bottom pane you will find the flash tool window where you will have to uncheck all the options except BOOTIMG and click or double click on the BOOTIMG. You will see a new pop up window where you need to select boot.img file which you’ve copied earlier.

Step 4: Now, from the flash tool, select the option of USB Mode and then switch off your phone and the re-insert the battery.

Step 5: In the power off state, connect your phone to the PC via original USB cable; all the drivers will be installed in your phone.

Step 6: As soon as the drivers are installed, unplug the cable from your phone and then again take out the battery from the phone and put it back again. Do not switch ON your phone up till now.

Step 7: Now, from the flash tool, you need to click on download option you see and then a new message will appear as “Please insert USB cable in 14 seconds”.

Step 8: Connect your phone to the PC via original USB cable, you will see a Yellow progress bar, as soon as the process has completed, a message will appear saying “BOOTIMG downloaded”.

Step 9: Now, disconnect your phone from the PC and re-insert the battery to start the device again. Rebooting after flashing process may take longer time than before, so don’t panic.

Step 10: Next, unzip “” and install the unlockroot23.exe and run the program as Administrator. Now, from the Unlock Root window, click on the “ROOT” option for rooting your device.

Step 11: To ensure whether your device has been rooted successfully or not, you can download Root Checker app from the Google Play Store.
