What to do before applying an update on your device?

Step 5: If you are going to install Custom ROM then it’s better to create a full Nandroid Backup of your device. You can also use Custom recovery to create Nandroid backup.
Step 6: We would also suggest disabling security apps and programs like Antivirus and Firewall on your Android device as it may interrupt the procedure.

Steps to Manually Install Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update on Samsung Galaxy S Advance:
Step 1: Open Odin and reboot your phone so as to enter it in Download Mode. To do so, press and hold the Volume Down + Home + Power buttons together until the screen turns ON. When you see a warning message on the screen, then press the Volume Up button to enter into Download Mode.
Step 2: Now, connect your phone to the PC using original USB cable i.e. the cable that came with.
Step 3: On successful connection of your phone to the PC the ID: COM section in Odin will turn Yellow, which means all the necessary drivers for your phone have successfully installed onto the PC.
Step 4: Now, click on “PDA” from Odin and then choose the “I9070XXLPY_I9070SERLPY_SER _HOME.tar.md5” file from your PC, it is the same update file you’ve downloaded and extracted on your PC earlier.
Step 5: Next, click on “Start” button to begin the flashing process.
Step 6: As soon as the flashing process has completed, your device will automatically reboot and you will see a “PASS” message in Odin.
