HTC Evo 4G is a LTE enabled phone on Sprint network. This is a high end device almost comparable to Samsung Galaxy SIII which will be coming to Sprint very soon. We have already told you about a oneclick rooter for HTC Evo 4G rooting on Windows. We have created this tutorial mainly for people who are on Mac or Windows and want to root the device. This is a easy guide with step step procedure to unlock bootloader, Root and install TWRP touch custom recovery on Evo 4G.

- The procedures and methods following below in this article should only be applied on HTC Evo 4G LTE.
- At least 70% charge should be there with your device, so as to assure that there is no Power interruption during the process.
- Backup all essential data’s on your phone, as there are chances of them getting lost during the process.
- Disable all security programs like Antivirus and Firewall from your computer and uninstall the same from your device, as these security suites generally tend to interrupt the process.
- Enable USB debugging in your HTC Evo 4G LTE from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The option of USB Debugging should be ticked.
Procedure to Root HTC Evo 4G LTE, Unlock the bootloader and install TWRP Recovery:
Step 1: Reboot your phone, so as to enter it in the Bootloader Mode. To do so, press the Volume Down + Power buttons together. When your phone resets, leave the Power button for a second and then again press the Power button.
Step 2: The Bootloader Menu will be displayed after a few moment, from the menu choose “FASTBOOT” and hit the Power button again to confirm and enter into FASTBOOT Mode.
Step 3: Now, connect your phone to the PC via Original USB cable, while connecting your phone will display “FASTBOOT USB” which means the PC has all necessary drivers for your phone.
Step 4: Now, open the command prompt in your PC and type the following commands:
fastboot oem get_identifier_token
For Mac, change all “fastboot” with “./fastboot-mac” on this page.
For Linux, change all “fastboot” with “./fastboot-linux” on this page.
Step 5: Now, you will see an identifier token; copy them on your clipboard.
Step 6: Next, go to the website “HTCDev.com” and login on the same, if you don’t have an account make one and then login.
Step 7: In the Home Page, click on “Unlock Bootloader” and then choose “Get Started”.
Step 8:Now, choose “All Other Suppoted devices” and then click on “Begin Unlock Bootloader” to proceed further.
Step 9:Further, click “Yes” to proceed. Now, click on “Proceed to Unlock Instructions”. Next, scroll to the bottom and click on “Proceed to Step 5”.
Step 10: Again scroll to the bottom and click on “Proceed to Step 8”.
Step 11: Now, scroll to the bottom agin and paste the Identifier Token you’ve copied before. Now, click on “Submit” and a message will displayed “Token Submitted Successfully” which means everything is going fine up till now.
Step 12: Next, you have login into your E-mail, you will see that you have received an E-mail from HTCDev.com.Download the Unlock_code.bin file attachment with the E-mail you’ve received.
Step 13: Now, copy the file Unlock_code.bin to the Evo4GLTERoot2 directory. Now, type the command below on ythe command prompt.
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
Step 14: Further, select “Yes” from your phone using Volume Up key and hit the Power button to confirm your action. When your phone boots up, connect your it to the PC as a media device and copy the file “CWM-SuperSU-v0.87.zip” in any folder on it. Once again reboot your phone into Bootloader Mode as you did before.
Step 15: Now, choose “FASTBOOT” from the Bootloader Menu. Type the following commands:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.1.8-jewel.img
fastboot erase cache
These commands will install custom TWRP on your phone.
Type the below command to install Stock Recovery on your phone whenever you want:
fastboot flash recovery stock_EVO4GLTE_recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
Step 16: Now, choose “BOOTLOADER” from the menu and then choose “Recovery”. Further, choose “Install” in TWRP Recovery Mode. Now, navigate to file “CWM-SuperSU-v0.87.zip” and choose it. Once the installation has finished, choose “Reboot System” to reboot your phone.
