Nowadays, modern smart phones come equipped with fast quad-core and even octa-core processors for the best performance possible and big batteries which last for long periods of time. However, the fast processor and other factors sometimes make the phone very hot which cause huge battery drain and damage. If you are experiencing overheating and battery drain on your Samsung Galaxy S5, S4, Note 3 or other devices then read below for all possible factors that might be causing it and also how you can prevent it.
One of the biggest advantages Android has over other operating systems is the ability to multitask and Samsung has perfected this ability. You can navigate on two different applications at the same time and even open four applications at once on the Galaxy Note 3. All these helps us lot and make our work easier but these also have some drawbacks and one of that is heating of the device due to heating up of battery. In this article we are going to inform you about the mistakes that lead to heating up of your device and how you can overcome these shortcomings. They are given below.
Mostly once you are done with multitasking, most of the people forget to close the apps. Just pressing he home button is not enough which people generally think. You have to remove the apps from Recent Apps menu and also should stop every unnecessary activity which is running on the background with Task Manager.
If the apps are left open, they spend a lot of processing power which leads to big battery drain. Always make sure to stop every active application running on the background to prevent battery drain and overheating.
One more big reason is the Micro SD card. All major Samsung Smartphone support Micro SD card. They are a great way to store all photographs and music in order to free space on the internal memory of the phone. However, if not treated correctly, Micro SD cards might use a lot of battery juice. So use the Micro SD wisely or you can also not use it if not required as nowadays the internal memories are big enough.
#3 Media scanner
Every time you open the photo or music gallery, the phone automatically runs a service called media scanner. Media scanner scans all the possible photos and music you might have on your phone and then displays them on the gallery. The media scanner requires a lot of processing power to do this and if it runs frequently, it will be very power hungry and will drain the battery a lot.
To fix this, you have to stop all the folders with music and photos that you don’t really need. For example, if you have a folder with old photos that you don’t want to see on the gallery, you can stop the media scanner from indexing that folder and the items inside will not be displayed. To prevent media scanner from scanning these folders, simply create a .nomedia file and put it inside the folder you want. This file will tell media scanner to not scan the selected folder and this will save battery life as well as processing power.
So these are a few reasons why the Galaxy S5, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 might overheat and lose a lot of battery juice in short periods of time. And given above are also the methods to overcome these problems. So use them and save battery and also keep your galaxy cool!
